Glenda De Bruyn stands as a woman of grace and purpose. Her eyes, a captivating shade of hazel, reflect a depth of wisdom acquired through a life dedicated to medicine and the pursuit of truth. Strands of blonde hair frame her face with a subtle elegance, and a gentle smile plays upon lips that carry both warmth and determination. Standing with an air of quiet confidence, Glenda's stature, neither imposing nor delicate, mirrors the balance she maintains between her roles as a healer and a seeker of mysteries.
Grüezi. Ich heisse Glenda, and my story unfolds through the vibrant streets of Zürich, Switzerland, where my teenage years were a kaleidoscope of dreams and mysteries. From my earliest memories, my father's footsteps painted a path of wonder and aspiration for me. He wasn't just a parent; he was a maestro of storytelling, weaving enchanting tales that ignited my young imagination. His narratives often revolved around the wonders of the world, sparking a deep curiosity within me. But one day, amidst the echoes of his captivating stories, he mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind an unresolved void that would echo through the years.
Driven by the lingering echoes of my father's tales, I embarked on a journey toward a career in medicine, finding purpose and fulfilment in the healing arts. My familial tapestry expanded to include Oska, my younger brother, whose rhythm took a different beat, managing nightclubs across Central Europe. Despite our diverse pursuits, the bond of kinship remained unbroken, connecting us across continents and diverse endeavours.
As a teenager, the vibrant cityscape of Zürich was my playground, and the mysteries of my father's disappearance became the backdrop to my quest for knowledge. The winding alleys and historic landmarks became my sanctuary, providing solace and inspiration as I navigated the labyrinth of adolescence.
Fate, in its whimsical ways, led me to Pierre, a man of French Flemish origins, during a special project in Borneo dedicated to assisting disadvantaged children. Pierre, the Chief Medical Officer, shared my commitment to making a difference, creating a foundation for a profound connection that transcended borders and cultural nuances. Our journey of service extended to South America before the call from Tasmania beckoned.
Relocating to the enchanting landscapes of Australia, Pierre's expertise in researching infectious diseases at the University of Tasmania became a new chapter in our lives. In Hobart, a newfound home, I donned the mantle of responsibility, wearing multiple hats—part-time General Practitioner at the Hobart Family Doctor's Practice, dedicated days in the corridors of the Royal Hobart Hospital, and a role on the Board of the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation. Each facet of my life was now interconnected by a commitment to healing and advancing medical knowledge.
Yet, the tranquility of Tasmania was disrupted by the emergence of a new virus. Pierre and I found ourselves members of the Fox Order, a covert organisation delving into the intricacies surrounding the outbreak. The uncertainty and peculiarities of the unfolding events compelled us to seek the truth. Determined and resolute, we navigated this clandestine journey, driven by a shared conviction to uncover the hidden layers beneath the surface.
The dichotomy of my life—between the serene role of a healer in the medical realm and the enigmatic pursuits of the Fox Order—created a tapestry of intrigue and purpose. As the story unfolded, my dedication to both realms was tested, revealing the strength that lay within the core of a woman who walked the delicate balance between light and shadows. Driven not just by professional duty but by the echoes of a mysterious past that continued to shape my present, the teenage dreams of unraveling mysteries fused seamlessly with the reality of a life dedicated to healing and seeking the truth.
